Spring Can Happen Fast
Seed and Chemistry update
When Mother Nature allows the farm community to go to the field, a lot of things happen in a very short period of time. Product moves to the ground at a rapid pace and inventory control can be challenging. Where the weather has permitted, some growers have decided to plant more of their acreage to corn. The current commodity prices and the availability of quality hybrids and traits combined to help drive this decision. Soybean seed availability has improved some with the decision to plant more corn. Ceres Solutions, at this time, has an adequate supply of soybean seed including any double crop opportunities. However, we encourage you to visit with your Ceres crops location to finalize your seed needs today.
So far we have been able to cope with the chemistry product shortages that we spoke of last time. One unknown at this time will be the amount of glyphosate needed to finish the season. The use of soybean residuals has proven to enhance yield opportunities while keeping the glyphosate rate at normal levels in crop. Also, in corn the use of a tank mix partner with normal glyphosate rates has proven to be a very effective treatment helping to control any resistance issues. With good communication and planning, Ceres Solutions should have available supplies of glyphosate. Also, please continue to plan and communicate your plant health acreage to us as supplies of some fungicides and insecticides are getting tight.
