A recent homeowner survey conducted by an insulation manufacturer revealed that 72 percent of homeowners aren’t sure how to apply for energy efficiency tax credits or rebates. The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) has created a new online resource at www.usepropane.com/stimulus to help homeowners learn how to take advantage of federal tax credits and other incentives to buy and install qualifying propane-fueled appliances before the end of 2010. Homeowners who visit the site can select a state on an interactive map to bring up information on both federal and state incentives. From there homeowners can calculate how much they can save on an upgrade to an energy-efficient propane appliance. Accompanying the map is an easy-to-use how-to guide that outlines four simple steps to qualifying and applying for tax credits and rebates. The how-to information is also available as a downloadable handout on the Propane MaRC (http://www.propanemarc.com/).
