Finding a Signal that Works
As the agriculture industry continues charging towards a changing market, it’s more important than ever for farmers to keep up in the latest technology that will benefit their farm operation. One way to keep up with the fast-paced market is through the use of RTK GPS.
RTK is a high-accuracy GPS signal correction that is accurate within one inch. There are many benefits to operating your farm using RTK. This type of technology can aid you in more efficiently applying chemicals and fertilizer to your fields. For example, research has shown that farmers who use strip-till will produce higher yields the closer the planter stays to the center of the strip. RTK provides that precise accuracy to keep the planter directly on top of the strip.
Another benefit of using RTK, as opposed to other systems, is the repeatability it offers. Because the stations are local, the signal is highly repeatable over time. This is to say that a year after a line is made in a field, the signal would still be within an inch of the original line. Also, with the stations being local, the signal is instantly on and instantly accurate, with no waiting time.
Ceres Solutions is proud to be an industry leader in RTK. Ceres Solutions was the first 450 MHz Trimble RTK network in the Nation. The difference between the 450 MHz and the 900 MHz, which is commonly used, is the wider wavelength that extends the signal range and improves availability. These signals allow users to operate further away and in rougher terrain from the base. The 450 MHz signal also reduces the need for repeater radios that are necessary with 900 MHz systems.
With Ceres Solutions, the service doesn’t stop after the equipment is bought. If you’re interested in learning more or getting started, please contact your local Precision Ag Specialist.
We just added a brand new tower at Fritchton We have moved the Shelburn tower to Clay City We have an added a repeater that will improve signal in eastern Fountain County and western Montgomery County We have added a repeater west of Carlisle to improve signal in the river bottoms west of Carlisle
All of our bases are unlocked for GLONASS now! This will provide unparalleled signal by more than doubling the number of satellites that subscribers on our network can see at one time. More satellites equals even more reliable signal more of the time.
